Kindergarten Graduation — 6/9/16
Family members and friends gathered for a kindergarten graduation ceremony that included songs and “diplomas.” The children all got flowers to present to someone special in attendance.
8th Grade Graduation — 6/8/16
Twenty-one 8th graders graduated during a ceremony featuring Abigail Reese Kelley as the keynote speaker, with several students also giving speeches. The Franciscan Center was full of families celebrating the milestone.
Physical Fitness Testing — 5/25/16
Physical Education Teacher Jake Hoerchner had the 4th graders doing fitness testing on this beautiful spring day.
7 Habits Fair — 5/6/16
The 7 Habits Fair is based on the “7 Habits” series of books by Stephen Covey. The students created exhibits demonstrating what each of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids meant for them at home and at school.
Donuts With Dad — 4/15/16
Fathers and other male figures in students’ lives gathered for some yummy donuts and bonding with the children.
Heartfelt Heroes Day — 3/18/16
Students honored their personal heroes in the Franciscan Center, where brunch was served. Each student introduced their hero and explained why they were chosen. Heroes ranged from moms and dads to grandparents, siblings and teachers.
Read Across America — 3/2/16
Volunteers from around Milwaukee read to CWA students on National Read Across America Day, which celebrates literacy on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Milwaukee Bucks legend Bob Dandridge was one of those readers and also spoke during the program that followed. Other Bucks staff joined him, including John Steinmiller, executive vice president, operations; Bango, the Bucks’ mascot; and Energee! Dance team members. The event was covered by CBS 58.
Diane’s Dictionaries — 2/1/16
First and fourth graders were presented dictionaries by Rotarian Barry James in an event promoting literacy and honoring his late wife, who was an avid reader. The program started seven years ago, and its goal is to encourage children to get interested in vocabulary and reading.
Holiday Program — 12/8-12/9/15
Students in 4-year-old kindergarten through 2nd grade sang in the season with a holiday program performed twice, once for their parents and once for the rest of the school.
Muffins With Mom — 11/13/15
Every fall, moms and other females important to CWA students gather for Muffins With Mom. Everyone gets to enjoy muffins, juice and each other’s company.
Costume Parade — 10/30/15
Students in K4 and K5 showed off their Halloween costumes while parading in front of the school.
Unity Day — 10/21/15
Many CWA students and staff wore orange as a sign of unity against bullying. The day is a celebration of kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Celebrating the First Day of School — 9/1/15
After summer break, students arrived at CWA for the first day of school, many of them escorted by their parents. Greeted by staff and administrators, students will spend the day getting reacquainted with the school by reviewing rules, meeting new teachers and receiving locker assignments. CWA is excited for a new school year, and welcomes all new and returning students and their families!
