Milwaukee ranks as one of the poorest cities in the nation. Think for a moment about the web of related social and educational challenges this presents for far too many Milwaukee parents and their children, today and into the future.
Capitol West Academy is turning this challenge into opportunity. As a neighborhood public charter school, CWA offers a passport to success through strong parent involvement, rigorous academics and character education initiatives that are embedded across the curriculum. In addition to achieving the academic prowess necessary to succeed in high school and beyond, our students are learning the values necessary to become contributing citizens who will improve the neighborhoods where they live and the city in which they work.
CWA’s children, parents, teachers and administrators are committed to this bold character-based learning environment. But we cannot do it alone.
Our school opened its doors in 2004 with 34 students in K5-3rd grade, and we have grown to serve about 275 students from K4-8th grade. This growth speaks to the quality of education provided, yet additional resources are necessary to sustain and expand the value of a CWA education.
Your investments of volunteer time and financial support will pay lifelong dividends for the students at Capitol West Academy.
