Capitol West Academy Names Vice President

SaintA recently promoted Sara Daniel to Vice President of Educational Services. Daniel will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of Capitol West Academy, SaintA’s public K4-8th grade school chartered through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Career-Long Educator 
Through her work with Capitol West Academy, Daniel believes, “Capitol West Academy can be an example of how high academic expectations and a highly compassionate, supportive environment can exist together.”

Daniel brings extensive experience to the role, including over twenty years at SaintA. Daniel began her two decades of service for SaintA working in schools as a therapist in Washington County. Since then, she has held multiple titles, including School Based Services Coordinator, Director of Clinical Services and Staff Development, and most recently, Director of Educational Development.

Statewide Expert on Our Campus 
Over the years, Daniel has become a statewide expert on trauma and has advanced Trauma Sensitive Schooling (TSS) across Wisconsin through consultation and training. Daniel has trained nearly 20,000 educators and consulted with the Wisconsin Department for Public Instruction, where she co-authored the DPI’s Trauma Sensitive Schools On-line Professional Development System.

As Vice President of Educational Services at SaintA, Daniel continues to do trainings and consulting, but with an emphasis on the Milwaukee community. Daniel’s strategic vision involves “a laser focus on the systems that support our kids and families, and that means focusing on our schools.” This begins at Capitol West Academy.

CWA Goes to the Next Level
“CWA has enthusiastic leadership and we have an opportunity to take the school to the next level,” says Daniel. “I’m excited to be a part of that.”  

Daniel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a B.A. in Political Science and earned her Master’s in Social Work  from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Sara is also certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT™) and is the leader of the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Interface Master Trainer Project for the state of Wisconsin.

SaintA is a human-services agency headquartered on Milwaukee’s northwest side where it also operates an award-winning school of excellence, Capitol West Academy. The mission of SaintA is to facilitate equity, learning, healing and wellness by restoring connections that help every child and family thrive. SaintA was featured in a 60 Minutes segment on childhood trauma and resilience with Special Correspondent Oprah Winfrey. It provides trauma-informed care in school, home and clinical settings, including The Clinic at SaintA, an outpatient mental health facility.
